BASF Ultrafuse 316L Metal Filament combines greater freedom of design with a low total cost of ownership. 3D-printed parts acquire their final properties, for example in terms of hardness and strength, through a debinding and sintering process developed by BASF, which has emerged as the industry standard. Debinding and sintering is not included with this product, for debinding and sintering included, select the Metal Bundle. As a filament, Ultrafuse 316 L is 80% stainless steel and has a 20% polymer content which allows for easy printing on many open FFF desktop printers.

BASF Ultrafuse® is stainless steel and has a 20% polymer content. This allows for easy printing on many FFF desktop printers such as Ultimaker and BCN3D.

Ultrafuse® 316L intergrates greater freedom of design with a low total cost of ownership. Part properties such as hardness and strength are acquired through debinding and sintering; processes developed by BASF which has emerged as industry standard.

APPLICATION EXAMPLES

  • Tooling
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Series production
  • Functional parts and prototypes

ADVANTAGES

  • 1.4 to 2 times cheaper than most metal powders, with less hardware investment
  • Significant cost advantage for small and medium-sized components
  • Overall manufacturing costs decrease significantly with increasing the lot size
  • With additive manufacturing, stainless steel parts can be created with a high degree of complexity

COST EFFECTIVE

  • Ultrafuse 316L works with any open FFF printer, resulting in low investment in hardware
  • BASF make use of established and highly efficient post-processing technology used in the Metal Injection Moulding Industry
  • Due to Ultrafuse 316L being in filament form, it makes it much safer and easier to handle in comparison with fine metal powders.
