Print Large Prototypes in Just Hours

The Ultimaker S5 has the largest build volume in the Ultimaker range (330 x 240 x 300 mm). Although the build volume is large, the model itself is streamline. The printer is still able to fit on a desktop and is suitable to use in an office environment.

The Ultimaker S5 allows you to adjust the layer thickness. End use parts can printed with very detail using a layer height of 0.2 mm. Or vice versa, larger prototypes can be printed in a fraction of the time by increasing the layer height.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of printer is Ultimaker?

Ultimaker is a 3D printing machine manufactured by a company based in the Netherlands that not only offer 3D printers and materials, but also develop the software needed for the printing process.

Where is Ultimaker manufactured?

Ultimaker is manufactured in Zaltbommel in the Netherlands. Their production facility is ISO 9001 certified! This means that their operations, manufacturing processes, and the quality of products are up to par with industry standards. They ensure efficiency from the assembly line right up to the delivery of their machines such as the Ultimaker S5 printer.

What can you make with a 3D printer?

The possibilities are endless with a three dimensional printer! Let your imagination run wild and explore the capabilities of the Ultimaker. Showerheads, bottle openers, planters, socket protectors, pen holders, desk organisers, drink coasters, wall mounts and windshield scrapers are just a few of the creations our customers print using our 3D printers.

What is FFF 3D printing?

FFF stands for Fused Filament Fabrication. It is also officially known as FDM or Fused Deposition Modeling, which was developed by Stratasys in 1989. This specifies that the 3D printer makes use of a continuous filament of thermoplastic material to achieve a three-dimensional print.

Why is filament so expensive?

Apart from the usual cost of raw materials and equipment, unlike regular printer ink, filaments are far more difficult to produce, with many technical factors to consider, such as temperatures and feed rates. We have to account for the research and development required to produce the ideal filament.

How can I make money with a 3D printer?

Purchasing 3 dimensional printers allows you to earn extra income by selling items you have produced from it. Moreover, you can offer to print items that meet your customers’ exact specifications.

How are 3D prints manufactured?

3D prints are created through additive manufacturing. In essence, it builds up an object from top to bottom, precisely stacking layers following  the digital design file until the object is fully formed.

What is the difference between FFF and FDM?

Technically, FFF and FDM are the same. They have identical printing processes and technologies. However, the only difference between the two is that FDM is a trademarked term while FFF is not. The Ultimaker S5 uses the FFF printing process.

What is SLA printing?

SLA is short for Stereolithography Apparatus. It is a three-dimensional printing method that mainly uses photochemical processes to produce models, prototypes, patterns, as well as small parts of contraptions. It is also known as Optical Fabrication, Photo-solidification, and Resin Printing.

What is the main purpose of a 3D printer?

If you choose to buy the Ultimaker S5, you will undoubtedly have a lot of use for it. 3D printers allow users to fabricate their own items, bringing your creativity to life as it transforms digital files into physical goods. It can be used as a hobby or for business.

Best Features Of Ultimaker S5

Compared to its predecessor, the Ultimaker 3 with its maximum build size of 215x215x200mm, the S5 is much bigger, able to build objects up to 330x240x300mm.

It also has an end-of-filament sensor that smartly pauses when the printer has no more filament left to let you load a new batch. Users will find it very easy to change filament thanks to the S5’s convenient toggle handle.

For commercial purposes, the Ultimaker S5 cost is no doubt worth it. It has a huge build area yet still creates smooth, high-quality prints.

Ultimaker S5: Moving Additive Manufacturing To Enterprise Level

Initially, there was some scepticism regarding the usefulness of 3D printers for manufacturing. But, with its desktop 3D printing innovations, Ultimaker is actively reinventing the manufacturing industry and changing stereotypes.

The S5 has been popular with enterprise customers ever since its summer 2018 launch. Ultimaker has been able to impress large brands, especially with its ISO Certifications, including ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management.

More and more manufacturers have released advanced manufacturing machines, but Ultimaker is consistent in coming up with high-quality 3D printers that are still easy to use. 3D printers that are smart and can self-monitor like the Ultimaker S5 gives users time to do other things while the print is ongoing.

With the improved productivity that the S5 offers, it is definitely safe to say that 3D printers can be taken more seriously at enterprise level.

Different Types Of Ultimaker S5 Material Station Setup

Sold as the ultimate hassle-free 3D printer, the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle comes with the Ultimaker S5 Material Station to make the S5 even smarter. It features an NFC mechanism for material compatibility and automatic switching, on top of the end-of-filament detection.

But what are the best ways to configure your Ultimaker S5 3 dimensional printer Material Station? Here’s what we recommend:

  • For consistent colours

For model-making and prototyping, you will often need only one colour for the whole job. For this and other large projects that need longer printing times, six spools of filaments of the same colour can be loaded in the Material Station. This way, you don’t need to waste time replacing print material.

  • For stable prints

To avoid collapsing overhangs, complex prints would need support. For more stability, the Material Station can be loaded with three spools of support materials such as Breakaway or PVA, in addition to three spools of regular material.

Another option is a four-two ratio depending on requirements. The Material Station also provides a suitable environment to prevent the materials from degrading.

  • For multiple colours

A standard 3D Ultimaker S5 is capable of printing up to two colours at a time. However, when upgraded with the Ultimaker Digital Factory, it can allow you to use any combination of its six filament pigments, provided that your printout fits the build plate or if you manually remove them after each print.

Using multiple colours for your printouts is not just for aesthetics! Colour is also a smart way to identify if your printed parts need replacements. If the outer layer wears away and shows the inner colour, it is an indication that it might need to be replaced.

If you’re interested in getting the Ultimaker S5, buy from our website today! We can offer the best packages for this wonderful product.
