Formlabs Elastic Resin
New for 2019, Elastic Resin is the latest addition to the Formlabs Engineering Resins Range.
The softest Engineering Resin, this 50A Shore durometer material is suitable for prototyping parts normally produced with silicone. Choose Elastic Resin for parts that will bend, stretch, compress, and hold up to repeated cycles without tearing.
The translucent colour allows for internal channels to be seen, which gives great potential for educational use as well as a host of other industries and applications. Key applications include wearables and consumer goods prototyping; medical visual simulation and devices; compliant features for robotics; and special effects props and models.
Whilst the ultimate tensile strength of elastic resin parts is incredibly low at 2 MPa, its elongation of 160% allows parts to stretch, bend and be otherwise manipulated in many ways, giving you the opportunity to print parts such as plastic springs and holds.
Possible applications of this material includes printing prototypes for bike handles, small tyres and handlebar grips.
Please note: This material prints at 100 micron resolution only, and requires post curing. If you would like to learn more about this process, click here. Elastic Resin is only compatible with the LT resin tanks (green), not the standard tanks (orange).
