FAQs

Do you have any questions about Pocket NC desktop CNC machines? Have a look at our FAQs below.

Where are Pocket NC's Manufactured?

All Pocket NC CNC machine are manufactured in Bozeman, Montana. As many parts as possible to manufacture the machines are sourced locally in Bozeman.

What size part can I make with the Pocket NC V2?

The travel of the Pocket NC V2-10 & V2-50 is 4.55 in (-2.00 in to 2.55 in) (-50.8 mm to 64.77mm) in X, 5.0 in (-2.5 in to 2.5 in) (-63.5mm to 63.5mm) in Y, and 3.55 in (-3.45 in to 0.1 in) (-87.63mm to 2.54mm) in Z. The maximum travel in the A axis is (-25° to 135°) and the maximum travel in the B axis is (-9999° to 9999°). How your part fits in this envelope is highly dependent on your setup. Comfortably the work envelope is about 3 inches (75mm) cubed.

How much power is required for a Pocket NC machine?

The universal power supply in every Pocket NC machine means that they can operate in any country. (90-264 VAC, 127-370 VDC, 47-63Hz). The machine consumes 3 amps at maximum output.

Is CNC machining similar to 3D printing?

No – for CNC machining, you must firstly know how to use CAM software (Computer Aided Machining) as opposed to CAD (Computer Aided Design). Additionally, it should be noted that parts that you can 3D print cannot be machined in the same way – however all machined parts are likely to be stronger and more durable due to the nature of the materials used.

How much does the V2 and enclosure weigh?

The V2 by itself weights 13.6kg, whereas the enclosure weighs 11.3kg.

Where does Solid Print3D ship to?

The regions we can ship to are: United Kingdom, Scotland (highlands), Wales, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight.

If the country you reside in is not listed above please email us at info@solidprint3d.co.uk to inquire about shipping to your country. It may be that your machine is subject to the export restrictions.

What method should I use for maintaining my machine?

Due to the design of the Pocket NC CNC machines, all of the vulnerable parts (electronics, motors and bearings) are well protected. However, we recommend using a vacuum with a soft extension to rid of debris. We don’t recommend using compressed air as this can cause debris to reach and damage the vulnerable parts of the machine.

We recommend using a soft cloth to wipe the machine of the fine dust that appears after machining. For removing oil grease, an alcoholic solution such as Isopropyl is recommended.
